Paul Harding

PASSIONATE ABOUT PEOPLE

When it comes to people skills, Unisure’s new Senior Business Development Manager, Paul Harding, outshines them all. Not only that, but he’s a master problem solver too, which makes him a tremendous asset in our UK office’s Business Development team.

“I’ve always loved working with people, and finding ways to help them,” Paul confides. “I learned early on to connect with people on a personal level. Customer service isn’t only about business and trying to get that deal over the line. You need to build up a key layer of trust with your clients; take an interest in their lives and understand their stressors so that you can offer their employees a solution with real value.”

As a Senior Business Development Manager, Paul’s focus will be on Unisure’s Group Health and Life insurance products, both in the UK and internationally. His experience in the international arena during his time as a Broker Partnerships Manager at William Russel has stood him in good stead, and although he’s been with Unisure for less than a month, he has immersed himself in our products and hit the ground running.

Part of Paul’s agility in the field, multitasking with brokers and clients, and keeping a calm demeanor under pressure, no doubt stems from his early career in the British army as a Combat Engineer for the Corps of Royal Engineers.

“Every day was different. One day you could be building bridges and the next day you’d be clearing mines. I learned a lot of valuable lessons from my time in the army, and I think the discipline it enforced meant that I had a natural aptitude for juggling admin-based roles and customer service.”

The insurance industry is a highly competitive industry in which to work as a Business Development Manager, but it’s one that Paul is passionate about.

“From the minute I first joined the insurance industry, I knew I’d found my niche,” Paul says. “I love understanding how the different insurance products work and then applying them to my clients’ needs to provide the right solution for their business.”

Paul has lived in numerous different countries, including Germany and Canada, which gives him a good understanding of the expat market that Unisure caters for. He’s also a parent, which has driven home the personal importance of group products like International Life & Disability to protect his family’s future financial stability. This, and his admiration for the Unisure way of doing insurance differently, has made him a great fit in our team.

“I love that Unisure’s teams are warm and caring, but also ambitious and dynamic in their thinking. Unisure keeps their members at the heart of everything they do, and that focus on creating rapport and building relationships has really confirmed for me that I’ve moved to a company that shares my business ethos.”

Thank you for your passion for customer excellence, Paul. It has been a pleasure welcoming you to the team and we have no doubt that your career will thrive at Unisure.
