Contract Basis: Full Time – Permanent
Salary Package: £40 – 45K / Annum, Commission, Medical Aid, Life & Pension Plan, Income Protection

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this role is to effectively explore, secure and develop new business and distribution opportunities throughout allocated regions. The Business Development person will continuously identify new intermediaries to promote service offerings and sell UK Group Life products that will ultimately result in enhanced customer satisfaction and retention.

 

Role and Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks:

  • Develop long-term relationships at the highest levels with accounts of strategic importance to facilitate successful renewals.
  • Develop strong working relationships with distributors and partners.
  • Evaluate current sales and identify ways to grow and expand revenue income.
  • Effectively identify new ways to reach existing markets or new product of service offerings to better meet the needs of existing market.
  • Meeting goals and developing plans for business and revenue growth.
  • Achieve new business and retention targets and seek to achieve targeted growth both for registration and distribution on all Unisure UK Group Life products.
  • Report back on sales, regions and travel.
  • Arrange and conduct professional business meetings, presentations and training, either in person or via an online platform, with current and new distribution partners.
  • Good preparation and planning is key prior to meetings and calls for new and retention business.
  • Manage all aspects of new business and retention through intermediary distribution channels.
  • Build strong, effective long-term relationships with various levels of decision makers and consultants within each distribution partner.
  • Identify competitors and potential gaps in the market through gathering necessary data to motivate possible change with the relevant divisions within Unisure, in order to ensure that the clients’ needs are recognised and where appropriate, they are met.
  • Actively assist with TOBA’s and onboarding for distribution partners.
  • Updating CRM system and pipeline.
  • Attending internal meetings and actively participate.
  • Completing compulsory training on time to ensure you have all the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Completing all required documentation for travel and expenses.
  • Growing and internal relationships between various teams and colleagues.
  • Working collaboratively in a team.

 

Skill Competencies:

  • Sales Driven and Self-motivation: Goal orientated with a drive to succeed. Identify new opportunities, understand customer needs and take proactive action to convert sales.
  • Customer Support: Control of actions required to resolve customer queries within cost and compliance boundaries. Identify and act upon anything that may affect the customer experience and any cost or risk exposure.
  • Communication Skills (Internal and External): Must be able to communicate with brokers and clients of diverse backgrounds and education levels. Well-developed written and verbal skills. Effective communication relevant to business operations with immediate team/department.
  • Organisational skills: Planning and arranging on- and off-site meetings and deadlines. Putting a business and travel plan in place for markets and distribution partners.
  • Time Management Skills: Be comfortable in managing and adjusting schedules and know how to best prioritise time.
  • Technical Skills: Basic technical and computer skills to update CRM system, do presentations and perform daily tasks competently.

 

Qualifications:

  • A business degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of relevant insurance experience with a demonstrable and successful track record.
  • Experience within the UK broker market, with particular emphasis on Group Life and Employee Benefits.
  • Quickly develop a strong understanding of company products or services as well as business position and competition in the market.
  • Ability in coordinating drive, direction, and enhancement in a distribution team.
